REACH Declaration

According to REACH legislation, Sondor's foam blocks or sheets are classified as an article. An article means "an object which during production is given a special shape, surface or design which determines its function to a greater degree than its chemical composition" . [REACH Article 3 (3)]. An article is composed of one or more substances or preparations. Specific substances may be added to give the article special properties.

Article. 7.1 of REACH states that substances in articles shall be registered when: 

  • The substance is present in the articles in total over one ton per producerl importer per year, and;
  • The substance is intended to be released during normal and reasonably foreseeable conditions of use. 

None of the substances we use in the manufacturing of our foam will be released during normal use and we, therefore, do not have to register any of the substances used in the manufacturing of our foam blocks, nor do we have to register our foam blocks under REACH.

We have however, contacted our suppliers of raw materials to ensure that the substances we use are pre-registered under REACH for use in foam products. We can confirm today that, where applicable, all our current suppliers are compliant with the REACH legislation.

We can also confirm that none of our products supplied contain any Substance of Very High Concern as defined by the REACH legislation. This includes the CMR (carcinogenic, mutagenic, toxic for reproduction), PST (persistent, bioaccumulative, toxic) and vPvS (very persistent and very bioaccumulative) categories. We have Material Safety Data Sheets from all our suppliers confirming this fact and we shall continue to monitor this.
