What is EPDM?

EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) rubber is a type of synthetic rubber. It is exceptionally durable and flexible and therefore has a broad range of applications, including in vehicles (window, door seals and cooling system hoses), cold-rooms, non-slip floor coatings amongst others. Simply put, pure rubber becomes brittle with temperature variations. In contrast, synthetic rubber (EPDM) remains flexible and can withstand temperature fluctuations for decades.

Advantages of EPDM

  • EPDM is resistant to ageing, alkalis and dilute acids
  • EPDM has excellent tear resistance
  • EPDM is waterproof

Properties of EPDM

  • Colour: Black
  • Nominal Density: 110 kg/m3
  • Temperature: -40°C to 60°C
