What is SPX Polyethylene Foam?

Expanded polyethylene (aka SPX foam) refers to foams made from polyethylene. It is manufactured from plastic pellets, and a blowing agent is used to expand the material in a mould heated by steam. It is primarily used in material for packaging goods as it is lightweight, resilient and flexible. It has excellent shock absorption and cushioning properties. SPX expanded polyethylene sheets also have a tremendous weight-to-strength ratio and high thermal resistance.

• Expanded polyethylene is resistant to dilute alkalis and acids, some oils, and weathering. It is also non-toxic and has excellent absorption characteristics.
